By far, the most common Air Conditioning Compressor sold in the United States is the AC Delco 15-20151. This AC Compressor fits any Chevrolet Truck, Tahoe or Suburban. It also was installed on GMC models that include the Sierra, Denali, Yukon, and Yukon XL.
The main problem with this A/C Compressor was that it would leak between the two cylinder bodies. Where these met, a gasket was put in place to help prevent leaks. However, as the Compressor would expand with heat, and contract when it cooled down, the gasket would break apart, over time.
That said, there was basically a design flaw in the manufacturing of the part. The good news is that the aftermarket caught up with the faults of this Air Conditioning Compressor, and figured out a way to improve upon the original. The new, aftermarket A/C Compressor is pinned to keep the unit from expanding and contracting.
